Blueboard goes up

The sheets of blueboard are a standard 4 ft by 8 ft, and today they started screwing them into the studs horizontally. That is to say, the 8 ft. length was parallel with the floor. All the ceilings have been covered and all the walls are 4 ft. high. The bags of Diamond brand interior [...]

Interior Decoration

I have lived for years with peeling wallpaper and crumbling plaster, and I’ve scarcely been conscious of the lack of decor. But being asked what color I want to paint my bedroom throws me into a state of panic. I have to make a decision! And it might be the wrong one! What am I [...]

Insulation

They finished installing all the insulation in the walls today. They were going to put it in the ceiling, too, but DH found a short in his wiring and as I write this, had not yet figured out where the problem is. Meanwhile, Teman got a nasty, Katrina-induced surprise. He went to purchase the sheetrock [...]

I am getting behind

I am getting behind . . . in everything: these entries, household bookkeeping, homeschooling, insurance paperwork, laundry–almost all of it has to do with paper, somehow. I would like to upload photos as the work progresses, and I haven’t even started that. Lots of water damage in the tents from the past two days of [...]
